My Professional Approach

Investment planning starts with there being a FIT – is the financial advisor right for the client and is the client right of the advisor. Next, and more importantly, is TRUST. I understand however, that a client’s trust isn’t earned overnight. It comes with time. Staying focused on what really matters – my clients needs – is what helps the process along. It also helps when the company you work for offers a special brand of client first service, and operates in an atmosphere of integrity and mutual respect. That’s why I joined Benjamin F. Edwards & Co. firm in 2018.

Here, I take time to get to know my clients – your financial situation, your tolerance for risk, your understanding of investments, and your goals and objectives. Fees and expenses are discussed, explained and agreed upon in advance. With these items in mind, we will work together and develop a framework for your investment plan. You can be sure I will ask a lot of questions. But I will also listen very carefully to your responses. Periodically, I will check in with you to see how you are doing and together we will assess how your plan is performing. If changes are needed, we’ll make them. This is how I define client first service.

My Background

I’m a fourth-generation Northern Nevadan, and I’ve worked in financial services since 2008. Previously, I was an operations manager for a wholesale/retail fuel distributor for 15 years and was responsible for over 300 employees.

As a financial advisor, I evaluate the markets through a technical lens. I also earned a Chartered Retirement Planning CounselorSM designation in 2008.  Both are helpful to me as I concentrate on developing retirement and investment planning strategies for my clients.

In addition, I have been actively involved in my community throughout the years. I have contributed to the organization and management of a golf tournament for junior golfers, was a board member of Western Nevada Clean Communities, as well as a former president of the alumni board of Sigma Phi Epsilon of the University of Nevada.

My wife and I have three children and four grandchildren. In my spare time, I enjoy playing golf, fly fishing and traveling with my family.

Education

  • University of Nevada, Bachelor of Science – Management, 1984
  • Chartered Retirement Plan Counselor (CRPC®), 2008

What is a CRPC®? A CHARTERED RETIREMENT PLANNING COUNSELORSM, or CRPC®, designation from the College for Financial Planning indicates that the holder has completed a rigorous course of study that addresses pre- and post-retirement needs, including asset management and estate planning. Additionally, individuals must pass an end-of-course examination, agree to adhere to standards of professional conduct, and are subject to a disciplinary process.
