Hugh Scott, III has specialized in assisting owners of closely held companies with mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures. For over fifteen years, Hugh completed numerous transactions across diverse industries. In addition, he has been a highly successful CEO and business owner, having completed a leveraged buyout of a private company, which he then managed, grew and eventually sold.

Hugh was most recently a managing director in our Investment Banking department. Previously, he was a managing director of Investment Banking at Stifel Nicolaus and Company, Inc., principal of Iota Group, a firm specializing in middle market investment banking, and president, chairman and CEO of Western Diesel Services, Inc, a distributor of diesel engines in the U.S.

Hugh serves on numerous boards including the boards of directors of U.S. Bank-St. Louis, Waterway Gas and Wash, Western Diesel Services, Inc., Central Institute for the Deaf, St. Louis Municipal Opera Association, Bellefontaine Cemetery Association, Grand Center, Inc., St. Luke’s Hospital, the Nine Network of Public Broadcasting and the Greater St. Louis Area Council of the Boy Scouts.

He is also very active in the St. Louis community. Following four terms as an alderman, he served as a mayor of Clayton, Missouri from 1987-1991. From 1993 until 1999 he was a commissioner and chairman of the St. Louis Zoo/Museum District. He currently serves as a commissioner of the Bi-State Development Commission. He is a former member of Young Presidents Organization and current member of the Chief Executives Organization. Hugh has also been an active alumnus of Yale University.
