OVERVIEW
The Benton Wealth Management Team welcomes you to join us at Benjamin F. Edwards where we practice a Client First approach to financial coaching, investment strategies and planning for your financial future!
Our Lincoln office is located at the northeast corner of 70th and Pioneers Boulevard. As of Jan. 1, 2024, this growing Edwards legacy now includes 95 offices in 30 states!
To be of greater value to our clients and friends, I keep current with two professional designations that require continuing education and attestation to codes of conduct, including ethics: the CFP® and CIMA®.
The CFP® certification process is administered by the CFP Board. CFP Board identifies to the public that those individuals who have been authorized to use the CFP® marks have met rigorous professional standards and have agreed to adhere to the principles of integrity, objectivity, competence, fairness, confidentiality, professionalism and diligence when working with clients. As a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner, I have completed extensive coursework in financial planning, tax planning, retirement planning, estate planning, investment management and insurance. The knowledge in these disciplines allows me to add significant value and expertise to my clients’ investments and financial objectives.
The professional designation of Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA®) is administered through the Investments & Wealth Institute (formerly the Investment Management Consultants Association). CIMA® certification is the peak international, technical portfolio construction program for investment consultants, analysts, financial advisors and wealth management professionals. The CIMA® program is distinctive as one of only a few global certifications in financial services to meet international accreditation and quality standards (ANSI/ISO 17024) for personnel certification programs.
Regarding industry-related exams, I have passed the Series 7, 63 and 65 and hold insurance licenses in various states for life, health, fixed and variable contacts.
Outside the office, I have served in the past as adjunct faculty at Concordia University — Nebraska in MBA Graduate Studies (finance) and at Nebraska Wesleyan University in the Wesleyan Advantage Program (finance).
Active in my community, I am a co-founder of the Lamp of Learning Educational Foundation in Lincoln and I currently serve as a board member and secretary. In the past, I have served the Nebraska Safety Council in Lincoln as past president, president, and chair of the Finance Committee. Previously, I served Nebraska Wesleyan University on the board of governors, as president of its Alumni Association, and on its Alumni Executive Council. I’m a past chairman of the board, a chapter advisor and board member of Zeta Psi Fraternity, Omicron Chapter; a board and Finance Committee member for the Zeta Psi Educational Foundation, Pearl River, New York; member of the Claims Board, committee member at-large, for the Client Assistance Fund for the Nebraska State Bar Association; and a “Mingle with the Flamingos” fund-raising Committee member for the Lincoln Children’s Zoo.
My hobbies include travel (especially international), fishing and golf. I also enjoy being in the garden, having previously earned the Master Gardener designation through the University of Nebraska – Extension.
